TWELFTH NIGHT (SHAKESPEARE EDITIONS)

One of Shakespeare’s most romantic plays, Twelfth Night (or What You Will), was likely written around 1601-1602 to entertain the Christmas season’s end. This classic comedy follows twins Viola and Sebastian, separated after a shipwreck on Ilyria’s coast. Disguised as a boy, Viola falls for Duke Orsino, who loves Countess Olivia, but Olivia falls for Viola believing her to be Cesario. The play features some of Shakespeare’s finest poetry, including Orsino’s famous speech starting “If music be the food of love, play on.” This edition includes an introduction, glossary, and timeline.
