BY WAY OF THE HEART

Pierre Favre, along with Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier, formed the nucleus of what would become the Jesuit Order (1540). By Way of the Heart: Pierre Favre SJ, the First Jesuit Companion, as well as documenting Favre’s extensive travels in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany and his native France during his short life, also gives insight into the character, purpose and commitment of the man himself and how he successfully touched the hearts and changed the minds of many. It also provides detailed insights into the early Society of Jesus and about the religious crises at the time of the early Counter- Reformation.
