Completed in 1999 during his tenure with the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit, Mark Fisher’s PhD thesis, Flatline Constructs, laid the groundwork for the distinctive fusion of culture, critique, and radical philosophy that would shape his later works, from Capitalist Realism to Acid Communism. Drawing on influences ranging from David Cronenberg and Gilles Deleuze to William Gibson, Fisher crafts a haunting vision of cyberpunk reality—where humanity and media converge, and the boundaries between life and death blur in a Gothic exploration of a world on the edge.
