STORY OF BUNJIL, THE

In Victoria, south-eastern Australia, Aboriginal people believed that a god-like being named Bunjil created humans, plants, and animals. Bunjil was depicted as both human and resembling a wedge-tailed eagle during his time on earth, while his wife, Ganawarra, embodied both human and black-swan traits. After their earthly existence, Bunjil and Ganawarra transformed into bright stars in the sky.
